The Véloscénie and the Véloroute

A 450-km cycle route, the Véloscénie connects Paris to Mont Saint-Michel, passing many key monuments of French history along its way. Five are even listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the banks of the Seine in Paris, the estate of Versailles, Chartres Cathedral, the Alençon lace-making tradition, and of course Mont Saint-Michel and its bay. To round off this journey in style, our guesthouse will be happy to welcome you for as long as you need to discover the Marvel and its region.

Like the Véloscénie, the Véloroute passes just a few hundred meters from our guesthouse.

The Véloroute connects the D-Day Landing Beaches and Mont-Saint-Michel. It's an opportunity for you to (re)discover Calvados and the English Channel at your own pace. Three starting points are available: Utah Beach, Port-en-Bessin, or Arromanches, for a majestic arrival at Mont-Saint-Michel. It's more affordable than the Véloscénie, with a 210 km route, if you wish to complete it in its entirety, of course. In this case, you'll appreciate the unique variety of Normandy landscapes, ranging from Bayeux, the Souleuvre Viaduct, the bocage countryside, and the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.

During the last stage Ducey / Mont-Saint-Michel, leading you to your guesthouse you will take the greenway which will take you to the mouth of the Sélune. Before that, you can stop to appreciate the village of Ducey with its old port, the Montgommery castle or its old bridge dating from the 19th century. Then, you will discover the old bridge of Pontaubault with its 11 arches which span the Sélune and its spot to observe the wave of the tidal bore during the high tides. Picnic tables are arranged all along the river where you can make a short stop to regain your strength in the shade of the large trees which line the river. We then recommend a detour to the point of Roche Torin, recommended for its view of the bay.

Finally, you follow the Sélune and the salt marshes and pass under the bridge towards Mont-Saint-Michel. The coast is long, but you will have the pleasure of descending towards the bay after crossing it. It is then that you will see Mont-Saint-Michel from various angles before discovering all the beauty of the Bay.

The Vélomaritime

The Vélomaritime is a 1,500 km route from the English Channel to the North Sea, passing by Mont Saint-Michel, the D-Day landing beaches, and the cliffs of Etretat. The route starts in Roscoff, Brittany, and the first stage is at Mont Saint-Michel, so you can stay at our guesthouse for this trip.

Note that the Vélomaritime is the French section of EuroVelo 4, a route that crosses Central Europe!

The Régalante

The Régalante connects Mont Saint-Michel to Nantes by bike over 285 km: thus, the Merveille can be the end point of this cycle route where you can rest and enjoy a few days. The Régalante crosses small and large medieval fortresses, rivers, forests and unusual villages, perfect for discovering the North West of France and its history.
